Did I fly with EI-DYG (birdstrike in Ciampino) last week?

Post by tklapgat » 13 Aug 2009, 13:58

As usual (5 times), I try to remember the 'names' of the planes that brought me somewhere.
We went from CRL to Milan on August 6th, and I thought it was with EI-DYG.

Now I find out that this plane had the birdstrike last november at Ciampino, and I can't find out what happened since. I found a picture http://www.irishairpics.com/photo/10311 ... 57191&sp=0 of May,2009 and so it's still possible.

Just want to know. By the way, it was a good flight, off course.

Yes, it had it's tail.
As you could see on the picture, it couldn't be a hard work to replace it. Just a few nails or a few meters of tape...
And what was so specific, there were lots of birds in the plane. As they were alive, I think they were not the result of the birdstrike, but they had made nests in the period of the missing tail.

As a mather of fact, I have this question: what about the EI-DYG, will it ever fly again?

Off course, I'm serious.
But as I thought... I became interested in the story of that plane.

I wanted to know if ever a plane can be repaired after such a touchdown, and 6 months later the only change at Ciampino was the removal of the tail, which seemed to wait to be replaced.

And if someone starts a laugh, I like to enjoy.

Thank you for your answer.

Peter

As far as I know the aircraft registration was given to another one that is perfectly and 100% fit to fly. So they simply removed the airplane from flying to be replaced by another one.

Maybe the one that suffered the birdstrike in CIA that day is now converted into a cabin training for the future cabin crew.

It's my guess.
